Mercy Care needs gsSCENE members
Oct 11, 2010
Mercy Care is hosting its biggest fundraiser of the year on October 29th at Pine Lakes Country Club. This event was chosen as a gsSCENE Community Service Project and several members have already volunteered to help make this evening a sure success for Mercy Care.
Mercy Care has put a twist on the evening and will be doing its part to help other charitable organizations in the area. They are asking attendees to bring one of the following items with them the night of the event:
– a grocery bag full of canned goods (with an expiration date of 4/2011 or later, please)
– a 5-pound bag of pet food
– a small box of personal care items (shampoo, soap, deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene products)
These items will then be distributed to local organizations serving the homeless.
If you cannot volunteer the night of the event, please consider dropping of any of these items at Mercy Care’s professional building prior to October 29th.
Mercy Care has a special relationship with gsSCENE and hopes to continue building on that in the future. Two active gsSCENE members work at Mercy Care – Stephen Chapman and Gladys A. Velasco. Stephen is currently an Ambassador and Gladys has been active on several committees and is currently a participant in gsLEAD. Mercy Care was also the recipient of the funds earned from working at last year’s Beerfest; money that was greatly appreciated and that went directly to the care of patients with economic need.
Details about volunteering can be found on the gsSCENE website. Donations of the items listed above can be dropped at Mercy Care, 8213 Devon Court, Myrtle Beach M-F 8:00am-6:00pm. If you would like any information, you can contact Gladys A. Velasco there at (843) 848-6480.
