Oct 11, 2010
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has more than 500 volunteers that serve on committees and help at festivals, expos and networking events. One of these exceptional volunteers is Deanne Johnson, owner and creative director of Studio 303 Inc. On September 28, Deanne was recognized as the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Chamber Volunteer of the Year.
Deanne has been a member of gsSCENE since it first kicked off in spring of 2008. Few people know the important role Deanne played in the inception of gsSCENE for Young Professionals. Deanne created the logo, name and acronym for the organization. She also has donated her talents as a graphic designer to design T-shirts, ads and promotional materials for gsSCENE.
Deanne has served on the gsSCENE community service committee since 2008. During her time on the committee she has organized two of gsSCENE community service projects with Angelfood Ministries and has volunteered at numerous other community service projects.
Deanne also is charged with a new community project of gsSCENE working with a nonprofit called Substitutes for Santa/SOS Kids. This organization provides a Christmas experience of a shopping spree, dinner and playtime for needy or underprivileged Horry County children. Deanne has taken over all responsibilities of the event including raising money, volunteers, food and gifts for the kids and planning the shopping spree and dinner with gsSCENE’s help.
