O'Neil McCoy Receives YP of the Year

For the third year the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce recognized a gsSCENE member who works in the Grand Strand and demonstrates community involvement, aspiration to succeed in the work force, and a future desire to make a difference. The Young Professional of the Year was awarded at the MBACC annual meeting on October 7 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel. O’Neil McCoy from Burroughs and Chapin Company was this year’s recipient.
O’Neil McCoy is a native of Myrtle Beach. He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s of Science in 2003 and received a Masters of Real Estate Development from Clemson University in 2007.
O’Neil is currently entering his second year serving on the gsSCENE for Young Professionals Steering Committee. He was Vice-Chair of the Events Committee from 2009-2010 and now holds the position of Chair for the Community Service Committee through 2011. He also helped develop and co-chairs the committee which organizes the annual “Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast,” a community event by gsSCENE which hosted over 500 people this year.
O’Neil is a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand Class 30 and was elected to serve on the LGS Board of Regents for 2010-2013. O’Neil also serves the community by participating in the 2009 Sweetie Pie Contest where he was named “Miss Congeniality” for most money raised benefiting the Grand Strand Humane Society. In addition, he was a contestant in the 2009 Dancing with the Horry County Stars which raises money for BE2 and Long Bay Symphony.
O’Neil is a founding member and currently serves as secretary on the Board of Directors for the Clemson University Real Estate Alumni Society. He is a member of United States Tennis Association and is a Coastal Young Leader for Urban Land Institute.
