Kickin’ it for Charity Kickball Tournament
May 11, 2010
This year’s tournament brought about not only a new winner but also an increase in monies raised. Congratulations to Kick Tease who defeated last year’s winner: Blood, Sweat and Beers (also known as Handley’s Pub) with a final score of 6 – 2.
Proceeds from this year’s event went to Substitutes for Santa, a charity that will be able to supply 30 Horry County children a Christmas whom would have otherwise not had one. So, in the spirit Christmas… A big thank you to all of the teams, The Cal Ripken Experience and Ocean Lakes Family Campground. All of which helped to raise an impressive $3,000.00 ($500.00 more than last year’s event proceeds).
The tournament brought out 14 different teams; some business sponsored, some just for fun, some young, and some old – but all very impressive. The double elimination allowed teams to play at least two games (one would know who played more than two games by observing who is still walking in pain around the Grand Strand area).
The day could not have been better for a day of kickball: great weather, warm temperatures, good food, cold beverages and gsSCENE camaraderie. By the end of the day talk of next year’s event were already flooding the fields. So, a big thank you to everyone who was involved in making this event a BIG success and we are looking forward to seeing everyone out there next year.
