Coffee with a twist
Apr 11, 2010
What involves twenty young professionals, Croissants Bistro & Bakery, and having a great time? If you said the gsSCENE Morning Rush Event, you are correct! On April 7th, twenty gsSCENE members met and had a networking breakfast – though I think everyone was too busy making new friends to think about the delicious food!
As a new member, I really didn’t know what to expect from my first event. I thought I would meet some great people, but the event went beyond my expectations. I had set out in the morning imagining a subdued affair. What I found was a group of fun, energetic, outgoing people each with a unique background. Through the networking game, where everyone got to introduce themselves, and the informal networking before and after, you really get to meet people that drive the economy of the Grand Strand. There were representatives from the medical field, insurance, home restoration, architecture, hospitality, advertising, television, and even a tobacco brand manager. For someone like me, who has recently moved back to the area, or for anyone who wants to meet other young professionals, events like this represent opportunities to network, learn, and make friends. Having participated in similar events in college and in Charlotte, I felt the Morning Rush was a nice twist on networking sessions. The setting and feel of the event was informal and very informative, with Ambassadors helping guide newcomers and make them feel at home.
