gsSCENE works Beerfest for a good cause

Apr 7, 2010

Hey! This news item has a related gallery of photos

Beerfest turned out to be quite an event! The gsSCENE Community Service Committee rounded up enough volunteers to show our presence, and our efforts were greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the volunteers who participated, and those who brought a friend or family member! A big thanks goes out to the Pelicans for donating the games – the Sumo wrestling was a big hit. We were able to raise just over $100 from the game participation, to add to the $1,000 earned by our working at the event. Our volunteers greeted customers and took payment at the entrance, sold drinks and tee-shirts, monitored ice and trash, and organized the game participation. A good time was had by all who were involved and we are excited to be donating our funds to Mercy Care.

Beerfest ran from March 26th-27th and drew in approximately 5,000 attendees, according to Mike Shank, director of Festival Promotions . This was a tremendous increase from last year, partially due to the increase in advertising for the event. The beautiful day and cool weather were also quite inviting for beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers alike. The family-friendly event offered over 110 beers (though attendees were discouraged from sampling them all) and a variety of foods from several of Market Common’s own restaurants.

If you are interested in getting involved with our community service events, please e-mail Kevin Cox at kevin.cox@htcinc.net or Carla Schuessler at cschuessler@allymgt.com. More will be coming soon!
