Apr 7, 2010

Hey! This news item has a related gallery of photos

Remember back in elementary school when the best part of the day was recess? And more times than not kickball was the game of choice. On Saturday May 8th, gsSCENE is bringing back those fond memories once again with the 2nd Annual Kickin’ it for Charity Kickball Tournament at The Ripken Experience. Last year’s winner, Handley’s Pub, will be returning to defend their title and try to take home another trophy.

But the tournament isn’t just about playing the game; it’s also about raising money for a local charity. At the March 16th event, Philanthropy and the Young Professional, gsSCENE members voted and Substitutes for Santa was the winner chosen to receive all the funds raised! Substitutes for Santa provides a Christmas experience of a shopping spree, dinner and playtime for needy or underprivileged Horry County children. Last year over $2,500 was raised for United Way of Horry County and this year we are hoping to raise at least $3,500!

It’s not too late to participate! The tournament is open to 16 teams, which can have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 16 players on a roaster. Currently 11 teams have already signed up to participate, so get your registration in fast! And the best part is no kickball experience required! Don’t want to play? Don’t worry, come out and enjoy live music, food, drinks and cheer on a team. Register your team or learn more details at www.gsSCENE.com.
