gsSCENE kickball tournament returns May 8
Feb 4, 2010
Once again it’s time for gsSCENE members and invited guests to lace it up for charity.
That’s because gsSCENE, the Grand Strand’s premier organization for young professionals, is bringing back its popular charity kickball tournament.
The second annual Kickin’ it for Charity Kickball Tournament has been scheduled for May 8 at the Ripkin Experience in Myrtle Beach.
Exact tournament times are being finalized, but last year’s charity event ran from about 10 a.m. until about 3 p.m.
Teams that compete are guaranteed at least three games and teams typically consist of up to 15 members.
Because this is such a popular event, teams are encouraged to begin forming as quickly as possible. Entire teams are encouraged, though partial teams are traditionally merged together.
Last year’s charity kickball tournament raised nearly $2,500 for the United Way, with 11 teams participating.
“We had great weather, only positive feedback and people stayed all day,” said Blakely Jenkins, gsSCENE’s liaison to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
Also last year, gsSCENE organized a post-tournament social at Broadway at the Beach. Similar plans are in the works for 2010.
Details on this year’s benefactor, including team entry fees, will be announced at a later date.
