Youth Leadership Academy Facilitators Needed!

Youth Leadership Academy Facilitators Needed!

For the eighth year, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce along with a new partner Jefferson Awards Foundation and Leadership Grand Strand will be holding the annual Youth Leadership Academy March 9 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University. Students will participate in hands on activities to help them build their leadership, communications and teamwork skills.

Each school is allowed to send up to 15 high school students from 9-12 grade to participate in the day, so our need for facilitators has never been greater. We have all new breakout sessions and are expecting around 450 students.

To participate in YLA as a facilitator, you are required to attend one training session on Monday, March 2 or Tuesday, March 3. Both sessions will be at Coastal Carolina University in the Edwards Building, Room 247 from 6-8 p.m. Due to the fact that we will be working with school-age young adults, background checks will be conducted on all facilitators.

This year’s event will be focused around the theme of community service that will impact each and every student who attends; “#act2impact: Students in Action.”

Contact Kema.Faulk@VisitMyrtleBeach.com or at (843) 916-7276 by Feb. 13 if you are interested in being a facilitator with the date of training you will attend and your shirt size. She will contact you at that time to gather the additional data needed for the background check. You also must be available from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. the day of the event. If you know anyone who might be interested in this opportunity, please pass this along.
