Conversations with a CEO III Recap

On Tuesday, March 27, 32 young professionals gathered at Prestwick Country Club to hear a few local CEO’s speak on success, life, family, community and much more.

Doug White CEO, Grand Strand Regional Medical Center

During a fabulous lunch, each CEO spoke to the young crowd on how they got to where they are today and offered some key advice to getting there.

“If you decide you want to do something, get involved with it – entrench yourself in the business and learn everything you can.”

“Most important thing to prepare yourself to run a business: Education, Travel … and Accounting are absolutely imperative, you MUST know your financial details – “the devil’s in the details and if you don’t know the details, they’ll get ya!”

“Loyalty and integrity are most important in looking for and hiring employees.”

Danny Issac – A&I Fire & Water Restoration

“Lead, follow or get the hell outta the way!”

“Write everything down! Because you’ll forget it”

“Do what you’re good at doing”

“To be a good leader: BE a leader and be a problem-solver”

Regarding community service: “Do it because it’s the right thing to do … You do better work when you have happy employees.”

“The most important work you will ever do is within the walls of your own home.”

“Do not ever be afraid of taking a leap”

“Circumspection – be aware of how you’re being perceived”

“Assume the role – you’re in it regardless, do it well.”

“Listen. Listen. Listen. Let them talk long enough they will come up with their own solution!”
